Beginners’ Qur’an Reading Course

This is a unique programme for people of all ages and all walks of life. Known as the “Beginners’ Reading Programme“, we use a proven method and an interactive learning environment where students are taught how to read the Qur’an in a systematic and simple way in a total class time of 16 hours. This course is unique in two ways:

1. The use of English as medium. Rarely do we get such courses using English in Singapore.

2. The duration. The nightly classes are held once a week over 12 weeks, making it a really quick Qur`an reading course. We also have day “crash” classes held over either 2 days or 4 days, with the latter in the morning or afternoons. So the flexibility to come and learn is there.

The current text that we are using is “Learn to Read Qur`an – Guidebook for Total Beginners” by Abdul Shakur Hadi, the Director of Wilayah Learning Centre. We believe the book is one of the easiest to use, with very good explanations with a healthy dose of reading practices. This book is a result of several years of research and experience in teaching Qur`anic reading. Lessons are all in English.

Tajwid Course

This is a follow-up programme for students who either have gone through the Beginners’ Reading Programme and have shown reading ability, or those who already are able to read but need to improve their knowledge of Tajwid. As with the Beginners’ Programme, this course is unique in two ways:

1. The use of English as medium. Rarely do we get such courses using English in Singapore.

2. The system. It is based on a 3-level¬†programme to suit the learner’s personal proficiency needs. From Basic, to Intermediate, and Advanced levels, each of them shall give a distinct level of understanding and aptitude for anyone wishing to excel in this science.

This system, which is also a feature in the Wilayah Method series, shall be ready in stages from late 2008 onwards, Insha Allah.
